The Windy City

No, we did not fly to Chicago. Rather, this morning it was quite windy in Southern California with winds on the hills forecasted at 80 miles per hour. Luckily, it was not so windy in Beverly Hills but nevertheless it was still fairly windy. By the afternoon, the winds had calmed down and we enjoyed a delightful day.

This morning we enjoyed another nice breakfast in the Hotel Restaurant. When we went back down to the hotel lobby area we ran into fellow World Cruisers and friends Allan and Helen King. We first met the King’s in 2004 on a sailing on board the Crystal Symphony from London to New York City. We went back to the restaurant with them to sit and talk while they had breakfast. Another World Cruise couple that we each knew from previous World Cruises joined us as well.

After breakfast, we all stopped by the Crystal desk, which had just opened. We were given color coded tags to place on our luggage which will designate which pieces of luggage should be taken from our room on Saturday morning to be brought over to the ship and which pieces we will carry with us onto the ship. Tomorrow, we will go by the Crystal registration desk to get our car assignments so that we know what time we will be driven over to the ship on Saturday morning.

Afterwards, we walked with Allan and Helen over to the Rodeo Driver area and enjoyed a nice walk with a wonderful conversation. We are all looking forward to the cruise with great anticipation.

On our way back to the Hotel we stopped at the famous cupcake store that we mentioned the other day. This time there was no long line so we were able to walk into the store to look at the famous cupcakes that attract lots of customers. To us, the cupcakes looked like plain old cupcakes, maybe a little oversized, and what is noteworthy is they cost $3.25 each. At that price, we’re not sure why the demand is so high. We guess it’s a fad.

After walking back to the Hotel, we took care of a couple of items before walking over to Century City. We decided to look for the office building that Crystal is located in and have posted a picture showing the office building where their suite is located. We then enjoyed lunch at Westfield.

Later in the afternoon we took a nice walk to the Museum of Tolerance. We are glad that we had the opportunity to visit this very unique museum.

After our visit to the museum we walked back to Wilshire Boulevard and walked into various stores. The good news is that we only looked and did not purchase anything. We enjoyed a nice seafood dinner and then walked back to the hotel.

We enjoyed another nice day in Beverly Hills.

Tomorrow evening is the World Cruise Gala, which is the kickoff to the 2008 World Cruise. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s kickoff event.
