We have continued to enjoy our time in Beverly Hills as we wait with great anticipation for the start of the World Cruise. Since our arrival, we have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to see the Beverly Hills area and other nearby areas.
Everywhere we have gone we have met so many nice people who live and/or work around here. There is something very magical about California and we suspect that maybe the fantastic weather contributes to the positive outlook and friendliness of the local residents. This is a beautiful area and we have really enjoyed ourselves throughout this week.
On Tuesday, we spent several hours visiting with two friends, Mehrdad and Sonia, who live in Southern California. In the late morning, they met us at the Hotel and then we enjoyed a very nice lunch along with a wonderful conversation with them at a restaurant located in Westwood. Following lunch we drove around some of the nearby areas including UCLA. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice walk with them around Beverly Hills. We had a wonderful time catching up with our friends and look forward to seeing them again. We spent the remainder of the day seeing some other sites nearby the hotel. The weather continued to be wonderful.
On Wednesday morning we enjoyed another nice breakfast at the Hotel. Once again, we had another really nice server and we learned that he has worked at the Hotel for over 27 years. There are three servers who have been with the hotel for 30, 29 and 27 years respectively. Amazing! After breakfast we took a nice long walk through various residential areas located near the Beverly Hills Civic Center.
Later in the morning we met another very special couple, Tom and Deanna, who we first met on a cruise in the fall of 2006. They drove down from Santa Barbara to visit with us and we enjoyed a lovely lunch and wonderful conversation with them at the hotel restaurant. One of the very wonderful aspects of cruising is all of the very nice people who we have sailed with. We are so lucky to have made friends with Tom and Deanna and we thank them for visiting with us. It was great to hear all about their travel adventures since we last saw them. We look forward to sailing with them again.
Afterwards, we ran into two other couples in the Hotel Lobby who we sailed with on last years World Cruise Adventure. It was great to catch up with them and we look forward to visiting with each of them during the World Cruise.
Later in the afternoon we took another nice walk before having dinner.
Tomorrow we look forward to spending another special day in Beverly Hills and seeing others who we met on last years cruise.
